Introductory Letter

This is a copy of the letter that should go home with students on Monday

Dear Students, Parents, Guardians and Friends of 205:

Hello, my name is Jacob Bonde (Mr. Bonde to the students, of course). Though I have been working with Ms. Samadi all year, I have not yet had a chance to introduce myself. I am a student teacher from the Harvard Teacher Education Program. I am taking the lead teaching role for 205's sixth grade English Language Arts class. I am originally from Minneapolis, MN. This is my fifth year working in education, but my first chance to be a classroom teacher and I am very excited.

I look forward to working with the students of 205. Very little will change within the classroom. Ms. Samadi and I are planning lessons together, and she will remain in the room while I teach. I will, however, be doing a few things differently. Here are two important changes.

Weekly Letters

Every Monday, I will be sending home weekly letters with every student. It will quickly update you on what we learned in class the last week and what is ahead in the upcoming weeks. I will then include an individualized message describing each student's progress during the last week, including their most recently updated grade. I am hoping that by keeping everyone informed, we will all be able to work together for the success of the students. To make sure that these letters get to you, I would prefer to also send you an email copy, so I would greatly appreciate an email address where I can reach you. Students will also be receiving merits for returning these letters signed by an adult.

Class Blog

I am very excited about this! I have created this class blog, which can be found online at mrbonde.blogspot.com. (If you are here you've already found it!) I will be posting the daily activity and homework, as well as other updates (and hopefully also posting student work in the future), so anyone can access them at anytime. The site also includes some things for homework help, such as an online dictionary and thesaurus. It also provides a link to email me, which I encourage anyone to do at any time at elawithmrbonde@gmail.com.

Contact me!

If there are any questions please email me at elawithmrbonde@gmail.com or call me at 612-419-6208. I hope to work together with everyone to ensure a great education for all the students of 205.

Sincerely,

Jacob Bonde
